About

Formed in 1961 by a group of oilmen concerned about the federal government’s growing regulatory role, the Permian Basin Petroleum Association (PBPA) has grown from fewer than twenty members to more than 1,000 member companies at its peak. We represent the interests of exploration & production, service, midstream, and various other support services companies that operate in the Permian Basin.

PBPA is the leading advocate for the Permian Basin petroleum industry and is well known for being the oldest and most active trade association in the region. We are headquartered in Midland, TX with satellite offices in Austin, TX, and Santa Fe, NM. PBPA serves the industry as an informed and influential legislative, regulatory, and educational voice in these key areas in addition to Washington, D.C.

In an industry that is continuously assaulted by the media, environmentalists, and the government, it is important to develop strong industry alliances. At PBPA, we thrive on the connectivity we maintain throughout our industry and other associated industries. As the leading voice for the oil and gas industry, we take great pride in our never-ending efforts to protect Permian Basin companies from potentially harmful legislative and regulatory actions. We are built on tradition and constantly working toward benefiting the vitality and image of oil and gas companies in the region.

To benefit our membership, we provide respected educational seminars, access to policymakers, networking opportunities, and important petroleum industry news updates. PBPA also serves the industry by encouraging producers to focus on being good stewards of the environment and contributing to our communities, all while playing a vital role to empower future energy producers of America. We believe the Permian Basin is in a unique position to help sustain our nation’s economic vitality and strengthen our nation’s energy independence, making our job more important than ever.
